One Man & His Dog Activity Day

One Man & His Dog Experience by Funday

Missing the TV programme? Now you can try your hand at guiding sheep into a pen, with a faithful sheepdog to help you. This is a unique opportunity to try your hand at the traditional art of sheep dog herding.

Your day will begin with a short talk on the dogs and their instincts and then you'll be introduced to the dogs. The morning will be spent learning the dogs' 'language' in a training ring and working 2 or 3 different dogs. For lunch, 'Shepherds' usually go to the local pub or you can bring a 'pack-up'. In the afternoon, you will be learning to work dogs loose in the field and finish moving a small flock of sheep round the field and completing a small course. The sense of achievement you'll feel when you've finally got all the sheep in the pen is second to none!
